This year, I’ve updated my personal mission statement… To increase the empower folks to express their true selves to cultivate deeper relationships with ourselves and the world. This has indeed been my life’s work (in many other words), and is in tune with the same note as SkillShare: to inspire creative exploration, and expand the power of expression, learning and discovery.

This was a special project for Barebones Living to produce a "how-to" video that was outside the norm of regular explainer videos and instead told a personal story while showing the steps needed to season a cast iron pan.
The Skill: Connecting through story telling. The Value: Supporting folks in their learning through authenticity and sticky content… like, barbecue sauce sticky.

One of my favorite excerpts is on pg 31 where it says: “Everyone is subject to oppression. You don’t have ism, they have you.”
I feel it’s important to find the humanity in everyone because we all have a need to return to our inherent worthiness if we ever want to feel fulfilled.
The way I engage with folks in my life is to make a concerted effort to cultivate a safe space to explore emotions, and sit with their truth. This intention has fostered the most depth-full connections I’ve ever had.
Internal Educational Initiatives
Mindset Mondays is a program I initiated at Docusign were we’d schedule 20 minute tele gatherings with co-workers and superiors to ground, set intentions for the week and cultivate a growth mindset. One person leads us in a centering exercise and facilitates a check in and check out, giving everyone a chance to share an emotion.
Sales Gym was a bi-weekly video series I initiated at Outreach.io, showcasing sales skills (such as negotiating), soft skills (such as building rapport), and current events (such as our company trip to Cabo!). These were whiteboard sessions recorded from my laptop camera
Tips and Tricks is a passive learning program I initiated at Hawai’i County to educate the County Council and Clerk staff to utilize the Microsoft Office Suite, and other technical tools more effectively. I delivered a survey to find out what tools were being used most often, and with that information I send out tailored weekly emails with step by step instructions, gifs and videos to 70+ recipients.

Becoming a part of the community on this island has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. From qualifying to the state championships for Outrigger Canoe (waʻa) racing to working with the tight nit County employees in the Legislative branch; Imua has been this experiences motto. It means, together forward, with strength. Imua sums up my core values in this world… To be in right relationship, empower and share aloha with all things.
